Geotab

Geotab already knows where the truck was.

Updated 2026-10-07

I do not replace Geotab. I read location, and fuel level when the sender is honest, next to the fuel card and the TMS.

What I pull from MyGeotab

Device or vehicle id, timestamped location, and, if you have it, fuel used or tank level. Geotab's public docs describe GPS, engine, and fuel data on the GO device. I use what you already collect. I do not need a second device on the dash.

You grant a read-only user or a data access you can revoke. Drivers stay in the Geotab workflow they already have.

The card is still the other half

Geotab does not, by itself, know the price on an EFS or Relay swipe. The join is the audit. If part of the fleet is on Samsara or Verizon Connect, say so. I match each tractor to the device it actually has.

Checklist

  • Can you grant a read-only MyGeotab user?
  • Do vehicle names match the TMS and the card?
  • Which units have usable fuel-level data?
  • How often do devices report?

What I look for

What I need from Geotab

01

Locations

Pings around each swipe.

02

A stable id

The same tractor the card is trying to name.

03

Your key

Read-only and revocable.

Next step

Let's use the Geotab data you already have.

15 minutes. If Geotab is live and the card is live, the audit has somewhere to start.

15 minutes. Your trucks, your systems, and whether an audit is worth it. I reply within one business day. Privacy.
